The 4DGEA Team
The 4D Team consists of the two Founding Partners, an additional partner and the Chief Operating Officer, three additional investment professionals, a Finance and Administration team and an Administrative Assistant. The Partners have over 50 years of experience as financiers and investors in the energy industry and have developed a broad and shared understanding of investment opportunities, shareholder dynamics and value propositions within the oil and gas value chain.
Jérôme Halbout is a Founding Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors. His experience in the energy sector dates to 1992, as Head of the Energy Project Finance teams of Crédit Lyonnais and Lazard Frères & Cie. Subsequently Senior Banker, Head of the Energy/ Utilities Sector at Crédit Lyonnais, his responsibilities covered all of the bank's activities worldwide in the industry.
Before working in the finance industry, Jérôme undertook 10 years of basic research at the CNRS in Paris and during post-doctoral work at the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago.
A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, Jérôme holds a French Doctorat es Sciences, and is a Ph.D in Geochemistry from the University of Paris. He has chaired and participated in numerous industry panels, including for the International Energy Agency and the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie, and is a member of the Paris Energy Club, a think tank founded by the Institut Français du Pétrole. Jérôme served as a director of the GEP, the association of French oil services companies, between 2006 and 2013 and again since 2016, and of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Lyon) between 2003 and 2010. He was a lecturer at the Paris School of International Affairs, the MBA programme of Institut des Sciences Politiques (Paris) until 2015.

Tighe Noonan is a Founding Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors. He has been continuously involved in energy finance since 1982. After 14 years of experience in commercial and investment banking with the Barclays Group (BZW) in New York and Paris, notably in the energy sector, he joined Société Générale in 1995 where he was Managing Director, Head of Oil and Gas Project Finance.
Following studies at Swarthmore College (USA), Tighe received an advanced degree in economics & finance from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques from the University of Grenoble (France). He speaks fluent English, French and Italian.

Tom Bates is a Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors. Prior to joining 4D Global Energy Advisors he was a Managing Director (2001 - 2010) and then Senior Advisor (2010 - 2015) at US-based private equity firm Lime Rock Partners. Before Lime Rock, Tom served as President of the Discovery Group for Baker Hughes from 1998 to 2000 where he was responsible for the integration of Western Atlas into Baker Hughes. Earlier, he was President and CEO of Weatherford Enterra before its acquisition by EVI in 1998, and before that he spent 15 years with Schlumberger, both in domestic and international locations, including five years as President of the Anadrill division. Tom began his career with Shell Oil Company.
Tom has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, where he also obtained his undergraduate degree.
Tom speaks English and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of portfolio company Independence Contract Drilling Inc.
David Johnson is a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of 4D Global Energy Advisors. Prior to joining the team in April 2012, he was an advisor and intermediary in the private equity secondary market at Tradition Securities and Futures and Carta Diem. Previously he was involved with a number of entrepreneurial ventures including leading a venture capital funded Internet start-up. In the early 1990's, he was International Finance Director of Canal+, a Paris- based media group, and prior to that he worked in the consumer and investment banking divisions of Citibank in Milan and New York.
David has a BA in Social Studies from Harvard College, and pursued further study in international law and economics as a Rotary Scholar at the Instituto de Estudios Internacionales in Chile.
David speaks fluent English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and serves on the boards of directors of the three 4D funds and current portfolio company Lampogas S.p.A.
Emmanuel Bazin is a Director of 4D Global Energy Advisors. Prior to joining the team in October 2006 he held a number of positions focused on oil and gas both in the industry and with banks. His professional experience dates back to 1983, with 5 years at BP in planning and sales management positions in petrochemicals in Paris and London, then 19 years at Paribas and Société Générale, in Geneva, Los Angeles, Singapore and Paris, in a variety of specialities ranging from trade finance to oil & gas reserve based and refining finance and, in the last 5 years M&A and acquisition finance transactions.
Emmanuel holds a Master's degree in business and finance management from ESC Rouen.
Emmanuel speaks French and English fluently, and is a director of portfolio companies Africa Fortesa Corporation Limited and Aladdin Middle East Ltd.
Véronique Gauduchon is Vice-President, Finance and Treasury of 4D Global Energy Advisors. Before joining 4D Global Energy Advisors in 2003, Véronique worked for 7 years at the Institut Francais du Pétrole (IFP), a leading European Oil & Gas industry investor. At the IFP she held positions as investment analyst, and as financial controller for its listed holding company. Prior to joining the IFP, Véronique was an auditor at Russel Bedford International in Paris.
Véronique is a Certified EFFAS financial analyst and a chartered accountant. She graduated from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Clermont-Ferrand with a degree in Business Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law, Accountancy and Fiscal Audit. She speaks fluent French and English.
David Kabile is a Vice-President at 4D Global Energy Advisors. Prior to joining 4D GEA in 2002, he worked for six years in corporate finance and equity research in New York and Brazil, focusing on emerging equity markets at Santander Investment then Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he opened the firm's equity research platform in Rio de Janeiro.
David graduated from Reims Management School with a Master in Management. He holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Sorbonne University and a Master in Finance & Asset Management from the University of Paris Dauphine. David is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He speaks fluent English, French and Portuguese, advanced Spanish and Italian.
Côme Orion is a Vice President at 4D Global Energy Advisors. Prior to joining the team in March 2011, he worked as a consultant for a family business. He started his career as a Graduate Analyst at Deutsche Bank in London and Singapore.
Côme graduated from Imperial College with an MSc in Finance and from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Management Sciences. He also holds a DEUG in Economics from University Paris X Nanterre. He speaks fluent English and French.
Maya Göpelt joined 4D Global Energy Advisors in April 2008 as an Administrative Assistant and Office Manager. She is the primary support to the 4D team and her role includes Event Organizing. Prior to joining the team, Maya was a recruitment consultant.
Maya holds a Masters degree in American and French Literature from Heinrich Heine Universität, Düsseldorf and in addition a Masters in Human Resources from Institut de Gestion Sociale, Paris. She speaks fluent German English, French and Italian.
Laurence Gosset is the accounting and control officer of 4D Global Energy Advisors. She joined the firm in July 2010 with 14 years of accounting experience in a consulting environment.
Laurence holds an accounting degree and speaks fluent French and working English.
